Fun Facts: Chapter 5 was also scripted by Ward, but was way too long,
so it had to be split into two halves. The first acted as an intro to
the Texas Fog character and the second acted as the part he would play
in the Mark and Matty adventure. Originally, Mark had asked Matthew
to write in a character who was a lethal killer, but a good friend of
Mark's. Matthew added in the details that this lethal killer was also
a little nutty. Jonathan Ward is Matthew's brother and was perfect for
the role. The name "The Texas Fog" was a nickname given to
Jonathan while playing guitar at an Irish bar in Norfolk, Virginia.
The name stuck and Matthew thought this chapter would be a good way
to tie in the name. Also appearing as an innocent man behind the wheel
is Brian Stublen, an old high school classmate of Matthew. Matthew asked
Brian to take the role due to Brian's quirky, squirrly voice. This chapter
reminds us of chapter 4, debating the clashes between Starbucks and
McDonalds. While Jonathan was pulling things out of his coat to try
and break into the car, just behind him, laying on the ground, was Mark,
handing each instrument under Jonathan's jacket just in time for use.
